The biggest difference between a Mac and a Windows based PC is the operating system. For a person that has never used a computer before, the Mac OSX would most likely be easier than Windows to learn. It’s very intuitive and designed for ease of use. However, most people have used Windows for years. So there would be a bit of a learning curve. For instance, when using the mouse opening programs does not require a double click and there is only (technically) one mouse button function.
That is an example of integration marketing at its finest! That was the thing that took Microsoft from being this tiny, unknown company to the biggest giant in the industry. It took Bill Gates from obscurity to being the richest man in the world!
Since Netbooks are not designed for use as a laptop replacement, they have lower speed processors (CPU’s). The CPU chips used for Netbooks not only have slower CPU speeds, the internal CPU bus speeds are slower also. And they are single core processors, instead of the 2 or 4 core processors typically found on new laptops today. All of these differences add up to a slower computing experience.
Insider Tip: Often the speed difference between a 2.2 Ghz and a 2.4Ghz chip are not even noticeable! Yet you may pay a hundred or more dollars for what is called a “faster” chip. Be wary of tiny jumps in speed and huge jumps in price.
In addition to avoiding the very beginning of a product or technology introduction, you also want to avoid the tail end of it as well. Products in the stale tale phase are usually about to be phased out.
There is a lot of misinformation out there concerning Apples OSX’s operating system. For instance, many people believe that most software that runs on Windows can’t run on a Mac. In the past, this may have been true, but most major software programs, including Microsoft’s Office suite have been ported over to OSX. Even many game makers are now making Mac versions. Sometimes there may be a program that doesn’t have a large enough user base to make a Mac version. For those instances there are options. Window’s can be run as a virtual machine using programs like “Parallels” or you can install Windows in a dual boot environment using “Boot Camp”.
Secondly, game freezing can also happen if your computer hardware does not meet the requirements of the game such as video and sound cards. Always install the required sound and video cards that meets the requirements.
Now, there are some things that simply come naturally to moms and dads, but not everything. There are some things that are just plain instinctive, and then there are some things that you have to learn along the way.
